Matt White

Matt is an arts professional with over fifteen years of experience working as a director, actor, dramaturg, educator and theatre producer. For five years Matt produced theatre with Necessary Angel Theatre Company, one of Canada’s foremost contemporary theatre companies.

Originally from Kitchener, Matt returned with his family to launch Green Light Arts, an arts organization dedicated to presenting work that entertains and maybe challenges them but hopefully leads them towards making positive change in their world.

Directing highlights for Green Light Arts include: Touch, Will You Be My Friend; The Amish Project; and Andy Warhol presents: Valerie. Our production of Will You Be My Friend will be presented at Toronto’s Theatre Passe Muraille in Fall 2018. Our development of Charlotte Corbeil Coleman’s play, You Be Me will be presented at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre as Guarded Girls in Spring 2019. Other upcoming projects Matt is directing include #ChurchToo (Theatre of the Beat), There are No Gays In Chechnya (Page 1 Productions) and an adaptation of Chekhov’s Three Sisters that will hopefully include robots!

Matt will be defending Zeitoun by Dave Eggers.
